ONGOING LOCAL OPPORTUNITIES – The Missions Task Force has made available recurring opportunities to give a hand up to our neighbors in the Columbus area. Volunteers are always welcomed to fulfill those commitments.
Meals of Hope – The 3rd Saturday of the month we will be serving a specific group of people in our Grove City Community. God calls us to GO and serve others a that’s what we will be doing starting March 20, 2021.
You can be part of this!
We will need two groups a “Prep-Meal Team” that will meet at 12pm at the church to cook and pack the meals and a “Go Team” that will meet at the church at 1:40pm get in our bus and deliver the meals (The purple door bus will park at the Travelodge Hotel and pass out the hot meals).

Purple Door Free Store – Purple Door Free Store is a new ministry dedicated to serving children and improving lives by providing for the clothing and basic living essentials for children in an atmosphere of kindness and respect. The Purple Door Free Store provides new and gently used children’s clothing, coats, shoes, and books to children residing in the community zip codes of 43123, 43116, 43146, 43119, 43204, 43228, and 43223. Additional assistance may be available outside of the service area for requests made by the members of Grove City United Methodist Church or other community referrals upon discretion of the church staff and PDFS Advisory Team. The PDFS is open every Wednesday from 6-8pm, personally serving one or two families at a time. Community Meal – An amazing meal is prepared for the community on the 2nd Saturday of every month and open from 4:30-5:30pm. All ages are welcome to help with setup, tear down and serving our community. Those in the kitchen must be at least 16 years old. Contact Pastor Lizzy to get involved, LizzyO@gcumc.org.
Grove City ACTS – ACTS (Active Christians Transforming Society) is a yearly event, generally in May, that is sponsored by many of the churches in Grove City. It is a one day event that provides landscaping, cleaning, painting, small home repairs to those who are physically and/or financially unable to get these tasks done on their own. With so many churches in the city providing volunteers and projects it is a huge undertaking that literally takes over the city for that one day in May. Angel Tree – In Partnership with Prison Fellowship, this unique program gives you an opportunity to share God’s love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. Angel Tree®, reaches out to the children of prisoners and their families with the love of Christ through a simple gift. Children’s names and wish list is paired with a caring individual who will purchase the gift on behalf of the incarcerated parent. For more information contact Pastor Brandi at Brandib@gcumc.org.
Grove City Lunch Club – Launched in summer of 2018, this new ministry partnered with local churches and restaurants to provide hot lunches for families within the SWCSD throughout the summer. Community Clothing Closet – An ongoing collection of new socks/underwear and gently used clothing are collected to be available to the staff within the SWCSD schools as needs arise for students. Contact Pastor Brandi at Brandib@gcumc.org.
Bed Brigade – Join the team to go and build bed frames for children throughout the community that may not have a bed to sleep on. For more information contact, Chris Roth.
